Flat Out of Town

For the love of small towns, there is equal amount to be said for the escape thereof, and the disappearance into the wide open. In so doing I look back in the mirror and wonder how many people have driven on this road, how many folks from the town come out here to escape, and how many more view places like this as barren and worthless. Part of the beauty of traveling in the States is that there is so much vast and open land, uninhabited or tainted by man, unlike England where any open land is sized up and considered for housing developments. So these images represent something of that open space feeling, where the only sounds are those of nature and the occasional passing car. Here is where peace is at, away from the rush, void of the commotion. In these locations the sky is open, untainted and eternal. These for me are the places of retreat, hideouts in plain sight bar for the lack of people to see you.
