Lightning Strikes

Lightning Strikes

So often in photography it is about being in the right place at the right time. This is a perfect example of such an event. The other factor of this shoot was that for years I have wanted to photograph lightning, but alas, have never been in the right place with my camera. Add to this the fact that in the UK we get fairly rubbish and infrequent storms. So when I was out in Spain recently, I was elated when there were two nights in a row of lightning storms, both lasting 2 hours each time! After a while it became ‘boring’ when another fork hit. I sat on a balcony with a beer in one hand and the cable release in the other. It was a fairly perfect couple of nights. it was certainly a photographic dream come true to photograph such a perfect storm, but to do so over a Spanish valley and farms, from a high vantage point, was a huge bonus. These ‘lower-res’ examples, really don’t do it justice! (apologies if your viewer distorts the colours)
